AUTOSIM Technical Workshop

Martin Schütz, Senior Scientist at NuTech Solutions will give a presentation during the 3rd AUTOSIM Technical Workshop, which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal. AUTOSIM is a European initiative to support, strengthen and develop the use of simulation within the European automotive industry. The intention is to research Best Practices and potential Breakthrough Technologies in three key areas: integration of simulation into the development process, materials characterization, and increasing confidence in the use of simulation. AUTOSIM intends to interact with the entire European automotive industry through a proactive consultation process.

History Matching: New Developments and Best Practices - ATW

The Society of Petroleum Engineers' Workshop will be devoted to discussion, review and documentation of recent developments in systematic, practical, and efficient approaches to assimilation of data collected in the process of reconciling high-resolution geologic models to dynamic data such as transient pressure, tracer, multiphase production history, and time-lapse seismic data. During the workshop NuTech Solutions' Dr. Thomas Baeck in cooperation with Scott Reeves from Advanced Resources International will give a presentation entitled "Optimized, Multi-Solution History-Matching and Probabilistic Forecasting for Non-Conventional Gas Reservoirs."

New Approaches to Complex Business Problems

Dr. David Davis, NuTech Senior Fellow, has been selected by the University of Houston’s Supply Chain Research Center (SCRC) to kick off its Fall 2006 distinguished speaker series. In his talk entitled “New Approaches to Complex Business Problems,” Davis will give an overview of several new technologies, with examples of the ways that they have aided businesses in increasing profits and cutting costs. Part of the presentation will include demonstrations of business simulation models from recent projects by George Danner and Howard Park, both of Industrial Science.

GECCO 2006 Conference

The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO), to be held this year in Seattle, WA, presents the latest results in the field of genetic and evolutionary computation. Dr. Thomas Bäck will participate in this event by giving a tutorial presentation on Evolution Strategies. Traditionally, also Dr. Dave Davis, A Senior Fellow of NuTech Solutions, Inc. will be involved in organization of a session in the “Evolutionary Computation in Practice” track at GECCO. This track is dedicated to the discussion of issues related to practical application of Evolutionary Computation.

International Coalbed Methane Symposium 2006

The International Coalbed Methane Symposium 2006 will be hosted by the University of Alabama’s College of Continuing Studies and College of Engineering. The event is dedicated to the international advancement of the science and technology of unconventional gas extraction and utilization. The focus of this symposium is on the accurate delineation and efficient recovery of both mine-related and stand-alone coalbed methane resources worldwide. Marco Woermann from NuTech Solutions will coauthor a paper which will be presented at this symposium.

International Conference on Computational Management Science

The third International Conference on Computational Management Science will be held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Organized by the Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica (CWI) and Technische Universiteit Eindhoven Conference will be focused on all computational aspects of management science. As the keynote speaker, Dr. Thomas Bäck of NuTech Solutions will make a presentation titled "Evolutionary Optimization in Industry - Algorithms and Examples from Engineering to Logistics."

2006 Pipeline Conference and Cybernetics Symposium

American Petroleum Institute's (API) 2006 Pipeline Conference and Cybernetics Symposium will be held in Fort Worth, Texas. The theme of the symposium - "The Future is Now: Dealing with a Nation's Needs" will feature tracks and sessions dealing with such topics as business, operations, safety, emergency response, security, regulations and standards and communications/public awareness. Presentation of "Leading Edge SCADA Technology" track will be given by one of NuTech Solutions' customers - Charles Harper from Air Liquide America, and will include description of NuTech's solution for pipeline optimization.

SPIE Defense and Security Symposium 2006

The SPIE (SPIE — The International Society for Optical Engineering) Defense and Security Symposium 2006 will feature a presentation by Mario Inchiosa, Senior Scientist at NuTech Solutions, entitled “Intelligent Computing: Theory and Applications.” Mario's presentation will be presented as a part of the conference’s technology track called “Intelligent and Unmanned Systems.” This track covers several topics in which NuTech Solutions specializes, including data mining, genetic and evolutionary learning processes, information retrieval, neural networks for detection and discrimination and adaptive networks.

The information evaluation requirements of today’s complex healthcare industry is the major topic of the “Evaluation 2006” conference. This annual convention, which will be held in Bochum, Germany, is a meeting place for health industry employees and scientists who develop evaluation tools. Some of the topics will include bioinformatics, placebo effect, genetic epidemiology, and other various issues related to health care and information technology.
