NuTech Solutions 2005 Events

10/18/2005 through 10/20/2005
BioTechnica 2005

Biotech meets business at the 14th annual trade fair for biotechnology held in Hannover, Germany. Offering attendees an overview of life sciences and biotechnology, BioTechnica provides a forum for the interdisciplinary and innovative biotech sector. This year’s event focuses on strategies for collaboration and cooperation to support long-term product cycles. NuTech Solutions’ Dr. Thomas Baeck is scheduled to present an Innovations Forum on Bioinformatics with the title “Knowledge Extraction Applied to Biotechnology”.

10/9/2005 through 10/12/2005
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition

A tradition for more than eight decades, ATCE, to be held this year in Dallas, TX, represents the best in technical presentations, state-of-the-art exhibits, prestigious awards and more from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). The theme of this year’s Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition is “Knowledge Shared.” Attendees will hear the most updated information from the upstream oil industry, including more than 70 technical sessions with over 500 presentations. NuTech Solutions’ petroleum optimization products will be featured in booth number 2416 hosted by our alliance partner, Advanced Resources International, Inc.

10/3/2005 through 10/7/2005
Unconventional Computation 2005 Conference

The fourth international conference on Unconventional Computation, to be held this year in Sevilla, Spain; is organized by Centre for Discrete Maths and Theoretical Computer Science (CDMTCS), University of Auckland, New Zealand and the University of Sevilla, Spain, under the auspices of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS). Original papers are solicited in all areas of unconventional computation. Papers dealing with theory as well as with experiments and applications are welcome. Typical, but not exclusive, topics are: natural computing including quantum, cellular, molecular, neural and evolutionary computing; chaos and dynamical systems based computing; and various proposals for computations that go beyond the Turing model. As an invited guest speaker, Dr. Thomas Bäck of NuTech Solutions will make a presentation titled "Solving Hard Problem by Means of Evolutionary Principles".

6/25/2005 through 6/29/2005
GECCO 2005 Conference

The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO), to be held this year in Washington, D.C., presents the latest high-quality results in the field of genetic and evolutionary computation. Dr. David Davis and Dr. Thomas Bäck will both participate in this event. Dr. Dave Davis will organize a workshop titled “Ask The Consultant”. During this workshop industry people will present problems, and then ask the consultant panel for their impressions of the suitability of the problem for Evolutionary Computation (EC) treatment. The consultant panel will consist of five of the best EC real-world practitioners in the world. Dr. Davis is also an organizer and a chairman of a session in the “Evolutionary Computation in Practice” track at GECCO. The session will be entitled “Technology Transfer from Academia to Industry”. The session wil be devoted to academics and students, whose carrier is related to the EC and included valuable information, such as how to find projects in industry and what to do to maximize their chances of getting an EC job. Traditionally, this track will be devoted to presentation a discussion describing real-world applications of EC to problem solving.

5/23/2005 through 5/27/2005
Workshop on Computational Problems in Physics

Helsinki University of Technology in Helsinki, Finland organizes the workshop on Computational Problems in Physics and invited Thomas Bäck, Ph.D., President of NuTech Solutions Germany. The workshop will concentrate on new numerical challenges and approaches in computational physics. Young researchers with different backgrounds will work side-by-side and under the guidance of more experienced scientists on a few topical, cross-disciplinary, and challenging problems. In addition, experts in the field will present a series of lectures on recent research topics relevant to the problems. Dr. Thomas Bäck’s presentation will be titled “Evolutionary algorithms for solving real-world problems”.

4/25/2005 through 4/28/2005
ARDA Challenge Workshop

Mario Inchiosa, Senior Scientist at NuTech Solutions will be an invited attendee at an Advance Research and Development (ARDA) challenge workshop on knowledge representation for the Novel Intelligence from Massive Data (NIMD) Program. This workshop will be focused on issues of interoperability between Knowledge Representation and Reasoning (KR&R) systems and standardizing highly reusable representations of analysis knowledge. The overall organization of the workshop is an 18-month project with two face-to-face meetings, and ongoing work between the meetings with regular teleconferences to synchronize and coordinate the work.

3/30/2005 through 4/01/2005
Western Regional Meeting 2005

During this year's Western Regional Meeting of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, to be held in Irvine, CA, Anil Patel from ChevronTexaco Energy Technology Co. will present the paper titled “Optimizing Cyclic Steam Oil Production with Genetic Algorithms” co-authored by Dr. David Davis, VP of Product Research at NuTech SOlutions.
