BIOMA 2004 Conference

International Conference on Bioinspired Optimization Methods and their Applications, to be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, is organized as part of the Information Science Multiconference IS 2004. The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for presentation and discussion of the latest theoretical and applied results in bioinspired optimization methodology and its applications. As an invited guest speaker at the workshop, Dr. Thomas Bäck of NuTech Solutions will speak on optimization using evolutionary strategies.

UPP 2004 Conference

Unconventional Programming Paradigms (UPP) workshop, to be held in Le Mont Saint-Michel, France, is jointly supported by the European Commission’s Information Society Technologies Programme, Future and Emerging Technologies Activity, and the US National Science Foundation, Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering. This workshop is part of a series of strategic workshops to identify key research challenges and opportunities in Information Technology. As an invited guest speaker at the workshop, Dr. Thomas Bäck of NuTech Solutions will speak on Bio Inspired Computing.

GECCO 2004 Conference

The Genetic and Evolutionary Computation Conference (GECCO), to be held this year in Seattle, WA., presents the latest high-quality results in the growing field of genetic and evolutionary computation. David Davis co-founded the Evolutionary Computation in Industry track at GECCO three years ago, and continues to help organize the series of sessions in this particular track. Industrial interest in evolutionary algorithms is growing rapidly. The Evolutionary Computation in Industry track has drawn more attendees than any other track at GECCO, since it started two years ago. This year Dr. Dave Davis will describe NuTech Solutions’ innovative production optimization system for Air Liquide, a producer and distributor of industrial and medical gases located in Houston. His topic is entitled Scheduling Production and Delivery of Liquid Oxygen and Nitrogen to 10,000 Sites, With a Combined Genetic Algorithm and Ant System. Dr. Thomas Bäck, Chief Scientist at NuTech Solutions, will be a guest instructor on Evolutionary Strategies.

University of Michigan Workshop

Dr. Dave Davis will be the keynote speaker at a workshop sponsored by the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Davis will speak about Real World Application of Genetic Algorithms.
